MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEME

The announcement of 8 gram gold for Thirumangalyam along with financial assistance for marriage by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu for marriage conducted from
17-05-2011 onwards is a flagship scheme implemented by the Social Welfare Department. This scheme has been extended to 8 grams gold from 23-05-2016 onwards. Under the scheme, Marriage Assistance of Rs.25,000/- and 8 gram gold is given for brides who have studied 10th and 12th and Rs.50,000/- and 8 gram gold for Degree / Diploma holders.

 

i.E.V.R. MANIYAMMAIYAR, MEMORIAL WIDOW DAUGHTER’S MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEME

The E.V.R. Maniyammaiyar, Memorial Widow Daughter’s Marriage Assistance Scheme is being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Government to improve the educational status of the poor girls. The assistance is given to girls who have completed 10th Standard, +2, Diploma or Degree.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes
To help the poor mothers who are widows by providing financial assistance for their daughter’s married and to promote the educational status of poor girls.

  1. Assistance Provided and eligibility:
    Cheque of Rs.25,000/- and gold coin of 8 grams. The bride should have passed 10th or no education qualification required. The bride should have completed 18 years and bridegroom should have completed 21 years at the time of marriage. Only one daughter of the poor widow is eligible. Application should be received before 40 days or atleast one day prior to the marriage incase of un avoidable circumstances.
  2. Documents to be enclosed:
    10th Marksheet, Transfer Certificate, Widow Certificate, Husband Death Certificate, Income Certificate, Marriage invitation, Passport size photo of the applicant and community Certificate.

  2. Documents to be enclosed:
    10th Marksheet, Degree/Diploma, Transfer & Provisional Certificate, Widow Certificate, Husband Death Certificate, Income Certificate, Marriage invitation, Passport size photo of the applicant and community Certificate.

ii.Dr. DHARMAMAL AMMAIYAR NINAIVU WIDOW REMARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEME

The Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow remarriage Assistance Scheme is being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Government for rehabilitating the life of destitute widows in the society.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes
To encourage remarriage of widows to ensure their rehabilitation.

  1. Assistance Provided and eligibility:
    Cheque of Rs.15,000/-, NSC Bond of Rs.10,000/-, and gold coin of 8 grams. Age limit 20 to 40 years. Should apply with in 6 months from the date of marriage.
  2. Documents to be enclosed:
    Death Certificate of the First husband of the remarried widow, Marriage Photo, Widow Certificate, 1st and 11nd Marriage invitation of the remarried widow, Community Certificate, No Income limit.

SCHEME – II

Objectives of the Schemes
To encourage remarriage of widows to ensure their rehabilitation.

    1. Assistance Provided and eligibility:
      Cheque of Rs.30,000/- NSC Bond of Rs.20,000/-, and gold coin of 8 grams.
    2. Documents to be enclosed:
      The bride should have passed Degree/Diploma, at the time of marriage. No Income limit. Age 20 to 40 years. Should apply with in 6 Months from the date of marriage.
    3. Documents to be enclosed:

Death Certificate of the first husband of the remarried widow. Marriage Photo, Widow Certificate, 1st and 2nd Marriage invitation of the remarried widow, Community Certificate, 10th Marksheet, Degree/Diploma Marksheet and Transfer Certificate.

iii.ANNAI TERESA NINAIVU ORPHAN GIRLS MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEME

The Annai Teresa Ninaivu Orphan Girls Marriage Assistance Scheme is being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Government to improve the educational status of the poor orphan girls. The assistance is given to girls who have completed 10th Standard, +2, Diploma or Degree.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes
To financially help the orphan girls at the time of their marriage.

  1. Assistance Provided and eligibility:
    Cheque of Rs.25,000/- and gold coin of 8 grams. The bride should have passed 10th or no education qualification required. The bride should have completed 18 years and bridegroom should have completed 21 years at the time of marriage. Only one daughter of the poor widow is eligible. Application should be received before 40 days or atleast one day prior to the marriage incase of un avoidable circumstances.

    Certificate showing that the applicant is a total Orphan or Father and Mother Death Certificate, Guardian’s Income Certificate, Age Certificate of the Applicant, Marriage Invitation, Passport Size Photo, Ration Card Photo Copy.

To financially help the Orphan girls at the time of their marriage.

  1. Assistance Provided and eligibility:
    Cheque of Rs.50,000/- and gold coin of 8 grams. The bride should have passed Degree / Diploma, at the time marriage. The bride should have completed 18 years and bridegroom should have completed 21 years at the time of marriage. Only one daughter of the poor widow is eligible. Application should be received before 40 days or atleast one day prior to the marriage incase of un avoidable circumstances.
  2. Documents to be enclosed:
    Certificate showing that the applicant is a total Orphan and Death Certificate of Father, Death Certificate of Mother, 10th Marksheet, Degree/Diploma Transfer & Provisional Certificate, Community Certificate, Guardian’s Income Certificate, Marriage Invitation, Passport Size Photo, Ration Card Photo Copy.

iv.Dr. MUTULAKSHMI REDDY MEMORIAL INTER CASTE MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEME

The Dr. Dharmambal Ammiyar Ninaivu Widow remarriage assistance scheme is being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Government to abolish untochability in the community. Inter caste marriage Assistance Scheme.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes
This scheme aims to abolish caste based discrimination.

  1. Assistance Provided and eligibility:
    Cheque of Rs.15,000/-, NSC Bond of Rs.10,000/-, and gold coin of 8 grams. The bride should have completed 18 years and bridegroom should have completed 21 years at the time of marriage. Should apply with in 2 years from the date of marriage.
  2. Documents to be enclosed:
    Marriage Invitation or Marriage Registration Certificate, Marriage Photo, Age Certificate of the bride, Community certificate of the bride & bride groom, Nativity Certificate of the bride and bride groom, No Income limit.

This scheme aims to abolish caste based discrimination.

  1. Assistance Provided and eligibility:
    Cheque of Rs.30,000/- NSC Bond of Rs.20,000/-, and gold coin of 8 grams. 18 years and bridegroom should have completed 21 years at the time of marriage. Should apply with in 2 years from the date of marriage.
  2. Documents to be enclosed:
    10th Marksheet, Degree/Diploma Marksheet and Transfer Certificate, Marriage Invitation, Marriage Registration Certificate, Marriage Photo, Age Certificate of the bride, Marriage Photo, Age Certificate of the bride, Community Certificate of the bride & bridegroom, Nativity Certificate of the bride and bridegroom, No Income limit.

SATHIYAVANIMUTHU AMMAIYAR NINAIVU FREE SUPPLY OF SEWING MACHINE SCHEME

Free supply of Sewing Machine Scheme is being implemented by the Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department., in order to enhance the income of widows, deserted wives, women from economically weaker sections, differently abled men and women, and socially affected women through self-employment.

CHIEF MINISTER’S GIRL CHILD PROTECTION SCHEME

This scheme aims to Promote enrollment and retention of the girl child in school and to ensure her education at least up to High School level, Encourage girls to get married only after the age of 18 years, Encourage parents to adopt family planning methods after two children, Protect the rights of the girl child and provide social and financial empowerment of girl child and Strengthen the role of the family in improving the status of the girl child.

SCHEME – I

An amount of Rs.50,000/- is deposited in the name of the girl child born on or after
01-08-2011, in the form of fixed deposit with the Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, for a family with one girl child only.

SCHEME – II

An amount of Rs.25,000/- is deposited in the names of two girl children born on or after 01-08-2011 in the form of fixed deposits with Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, for a family with two girl children only. The copy of the fixed deposit receipts are given to the family of the girl children. To receive the benefit under this scheme i.e., maturity amount, the girl child should appear for the SSLC Exam conducted by the State Government and should have completed 18 years of age.

TAMIL NADU THIRD GENDERS WELFARE BOARD

The Government has taken initiatives in interests of the welfare of Third Genders so as to mainstream them in all walks of social life. The Government has implemented various schemes for the educational and financial development of the third genders. Third genders after undergoing medical examination by the medical board are issued identify cards, Further, third genders self help groups are given loan for economic development there also given training on economic generation activities, Housing sites pattas and houses will be given through slum clearance board.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT – 2005

The protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to protect women from Domestic Violence. The victims expressed the reasons behind this includes verbal harassment, liquor intake and not looking after the family and extra marital relationship timely counseling and follow up given, after getting the consent of the girl the case will be filed against the person and action being taken by court.

SENIOR CITIZENS ACT – 2007

Maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens act 2007. The main objective of this act is to provide food, clothing, residence, medical attendance to the elderly people.

DOWRY HARASSMENT ACT – 1961

Dowry is a social evil which is effecting the society like disease. An act to prohibit the giving or taking of dowry. The District Social Welfare Officer is appointed as Dowry prohibition Officer.

Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment at Work Place Act, 2013

In Tamil Nadu the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 is implemented. The Department of Social Welfare is a Nodal Department under District Social Welfare Officers are the Nodal Officers implementing the Scheme in the District. As per the Implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) have to be established in all offices. The District Collectors are notified as District Officers who will constitute Local Complaints Committee (LCC) in every district.

CHILD MARRIAGE ACT-2006

Child Marriage Prohibition act a first Social reform issue which will pave towards healthy community. Child Marriage has many effects on girls, health increased risk during pregnancy, delivery pre-mature birth and death of neonates, infants and mother. District Social Welfare Officer is the Prohibition Officer for child marriage.

PURATCHI THALAIVAR Dr. M.G.R. FREE UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION FOR CHILDREN’S FROM 1ST STD TO 8TH STD

Free four sets of Uniform is distributed to children’s studying in Government schools.

WORKING WOMEN HOSTELS

Opening up of new avenues of employment in urban areas has motivated many young women to take up employment away from their homes to cities. Due to the rise in prices and high rentals, the cost of living has gone up. Girls from poor and middle class families find it difficult to manage financially in their new places of employment with the meagre income they get. In order to help such working women, the Government runs 28 Working Women Hostels.

ONE STOP CENTRE

One Stop Centres (OSCs) are intended to support women affected by violence, in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace. Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race and culture will be facilitated with support and redressal. Aggrieved women facing any kind of violence due to attempted sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honour related crimes, acid attacks or witch-hunting who have reached out or been referred to the OSC will be provided with specialized services.

COMMUNITY HELP DESK

The Creation of the Community Help Desk at the District level has been initiated to enable public in general, beneficiaries and victims to access the information through a single window system directly from the department and enable redressal of grievances, through Skype with which one can connect to the head office and other District Social Welfare Offices in the State. This Community Help Desk, with Skype facilities will also monitor various activities pertaining to dissemination of information to the community in the remote part of the villages in order to reach out to the unreached and enable everyone to get benefitted.
